Heathrow traffic at standstill due to climate change protest

Protestors have blocked a tunnel leading into Heathrow Airport, bringing traffic to a standstill.

The airport said the tunnel affected leads to Terminals 2 and 3, used by mainly long-haul airlines including Virgin, United, Delta, Emirates, Air Canada, Singapore Airlines and British Airways.

It is advising passengers due to fly from either terminal today to leave extra time to reach the airport, but by 9.30am traffic was backed up along the M4 motorway, affecting passengers trying to reach all five terminals.

The M4 spur road southbound was also closed and traffic on the A4 Bath Road was also solid.
